How to Edit Your Header or Footer (Bricks Builder)

Your header and footer are some of the most important parts of your site since they show up everywhere. Whether it’s updating a navigation link or tweaking a layout, here’s how to find and edit these global sections.

Where to Find Them #

Your header and footer are built using Bricks Builder templates.
To access them, head to:
Bricks → Templates

From there, look for something like:

  • Header – Full
  • Footer – Full
  • or a similarly named template

Click Edit with Bricks to open the visual editor.

What You Actually Need to Edit #

In most cases, you won’t need to touch the Bricks layout at all. Most of the time, the header just pulls in your WordPress menu—so if you’re changing navigation links, labels, or dropdowns, you’ll want to edit your menu instead (Instructions). (This keeps things tidy and prevents breaking the layout.)

When to Use Bricks #

You’ll only need to open Bricks if:

  • You’re changing the structure (adding/removing elements)
  • You want to update footer text or layout
  • You’re customizing global elements like a button or CTA strip

Otherwise, all the dynamic content—like social links, hours, or contact info—is already connected through your custom settings page (which we cover here).

Refer to Your Handoff Document #

Each site is set up a little differently. Check your website handoff document to confirm:

  • Which header/footer template you should edit
  • What’s being pulled dynamically
