These elements are essential for your website’s branding and SEO. Here’s how you can easily update them through the WordPress dashboard.

Step 1: Access the Customizer #

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance > Customize from the sidebar.

Step 2: Update Site Title & Tagline #

  1. In the Customizer, click on Site Identity.
  2. You’ll see the fields for Site Title and Tagline:
    • Site Title: This is the name of your website (usually your brand or blog name).
    • Tagline: A short description or slogan that summarizes your site’s purpose.
  3. Enter your new Site Title and Tagline.
  4. Preview the Changes in the right-hand preview pane to see how they look.

Step 3: Upload a Favicon (Site Icon) #

  1. In the same Site Identity section, scroll down to Site Icon (this is the favicon that appears in the browser tab).
  2. Click Select Site Icon to upload an image.
    • Recommended size: 512 x 512 pixels for optimal display.
    • Ensure the icon is square for consistent rendering across all browsers and devices.
  3. After uploading, crop the image if necessary, or skip cropping if the size is correct.
  4. You’ll see a live preview of the favicon in the customizer.

Step 4: Save Your Changes #

  1. Once you’re happy with the Site Title, Tagline, and Favicon, click the Publish button at the top of the Customizer.
  2. Your changes will now be live on the site.

Pro Tips #

  • SEO Boost: Keep your Site Title and Tagline concise but relevant to improve search engine visibility.
  • Branding Consistency: Make sure your favicon matches your branding, such as your logo or a recognizable icon.
  • Test Across Devices: Check your favicon on multiple browsers and devices to ensure it displays correctly.
